Each rung differs from the one above by exactly one letter. The highlighted tile is the letter that changes as you climb.

How to solve level 6, step by step

  1. Answer the five clued rungs first. On the level 6 ladder they solve to PORT, PART, CART, CAST and FAST.
  2. Now put those five in the one order where each word differs from its neighbour by a single letter. That forced order (the same puzzle read either way up) links them like this:
  3. PORT becomes PART by changing the second letter from O to A.
  4. PART becomes CART by changing the first letter from P to C.
  5. CART becomes CAST by changing the third letter from R to S.
  6. CAST becomes FAST by changing the first letter from C to F.
  7. Line the five up that way and the ends unlock. The top answer PORE sits one letter from PORT (the fourth letter, E to T), and the bottom answer FACT sits one letter from FAST (the third letter, S to C). Solve those two clues to finish the climb.
