How to solve level 3, step by step
- Answer the five clued rungs first. On the level 3 ladder they solve to HOOF, HOOD, MOOD, MOLD and GOLD.
- Now put those five in the one order where each word differs from its neighbour by a single letter. That forced order (the same puzzle read either way up) links them like this:
- HOOF becomes HOOD by changing the fourth letter from F to D.
- HOOD becomes MOOD by changing the first letter from H to M.
- MOOD becomes MOLD by changing the third letter from O to L.
- MOLD becomes GOLD by changing the first letter from M to G.
