5. PINCH: Squeeze between two fingers
6. PUNCH: A hit with the fist, or a fruity drink
7. BUNCH (bottom rung): A cluster of grapes

How to solve level 26, step by step

1. Answer the five clued rungs first. On the level 26 ladder they solve to HATCH, PATCH, PITCH, PINCH and PUNCH.
2. Now put those five in the one order where each word differs from its neighbour by a single letter. That forced order (the same puzzle read either way up) links them like this:
3. HATCH becomes PATCH by changing the first letter from H to P.
4. PATCH becomes PITCH by changing the second letter from A to I.
5. PITCH becomes PINCH by changing the third letter from T to N.
6. PINCH becomes PUNCH by changing the second letter from I to U.
7. Line the five up that way and the ends unlock. The top answer BATCH sits one letter from HATCH (the first letter, B to H), and the bottom answer BUNCH sits one letter from PUNCH (the first letter, P to B). Solve those two clues to finish the climb.
